The installation of our moldings takes place in two stages:

Installation of the support base

Step 1

Start installing the support base from the inner corner of the wall.

Step 2

Measure the horizontal distance to cover, starting from the inner corner to the end of the wall.

Step 3

Using a pencil, mark the location on the support base.

Step 4

Using a wood chisel, make a notch in the support rail and fold the support base outwards.

Step 5

Using a sheet metal scissor, clip and trim excess support rail to form a 45° angle, in order to fold the support rail inwards and form the inner corner.

Step 6

Using two blocks, 1-inch wide (previously cut out from the molding), as templates, fix the base against the wall, with spacing of 16 inches center-to-center (i.e. every 16 inches). Make sure that the bottom of the molding rests against the floor. To install door and window frames, use a slightly unfolded template to determine the space you wish to leave between the molding and the frame.

Step 7

Slide the template against the support base to make sure that the nail heads do not create any obstruction.

Step 8

To create the outer corner of the wall, repeat step 4 using a wood chisel. To make sure that the base is parallel to the wall, place a template at the end of the outer corner and make sure that the angle between the floor and the end of the wall form a 90° angle.

Step 9

Pressing firmly on the template, fold the support base towards the second wall.

Step 10

When you're ready to fix the measurement basis to the wall, use the two templates to keep the molding perfectly parallel to the floor, and drive the screws into the wall with a drill.

Step 11

Once measurements are taken, cut the molding with a cutting tool. To fix the molding, press it against the support base, and follow the attachments on the rear face of the moldings, using the base rail. To remove it, lift the end of the molding and pull carefully in reverse.

Installation of door and window frames

Step 1

Cut out two measurement blocks from the molding strip, and use them as templates

Step 2

Install the support base and cut it to the desired length with a tolerance of ± 1/2 inch (12,7 mm).

Step 3

Apply the templates against the support base and screw the base to the wall.

Note : On the photograph, the measurement block is folded to serve as a guiding device and keep an even distance between the doorframe and the inner side of the molding.

Step 4

In order to mark the temporary measurement of the outer contour, place the front face of the molding against the wall, and mark the measurement with a pencil.

Step 5

Once the first measurement of the outer contour is done, put the molding back as it should (rear face against the wall) to mark the measurement of the inner contour. Use the template.

Step 6

Using a cutting tool, cut the first molding to form a 45° angle, on the basis of the measurements taken beforehand. Cut the second molding to form a 45° angle, in order to get a 90° angle when the two moldings are fixed together. Repeat this step to form the other corners. Always use your template to keep the right measurements.

Step 7

To fix a molding, press it against the support base; follow the attachments on the rear face of the moldings, using the base rail. To remove it, lift the end of the molding and pull carefully in reverse.

Sawing block

Our sawing block is a must-have tool. Besides protecting your hands and fingers, it makes perfect cuts with miter saws.
